Thank you so much for being part of the Storyfolk community!
A Note From The Developers
We’re incredibly grateful for your support and excited to be part of your writing journey. Storyfolk was built by the two of us, my husband and I, both with a shared passion for storytelling and a desire to create a fun, approachable space for novel planning. We’re already hard at work on future updates that will include new features like romance and villain arcs, improved navigation, extra prompts, and more to help you dive even deeper into your stories.
Your feedback and enthusiasm inspires us every day, and we’re committed to making the Storyfolk experience even better with each release. If you need assistance or have ideas to share, please send them our way!

The Upcoming Release
The next features to expect for Version 1.5:
Fiction Genres You will be able to create fantasy & fiction stories such as thriller, romance, historical, crime & mystery, horror and general fiction!
For sci-fi stories we plan on creating specific sections dedicated to that genre (entities, logic, planets..etc), so you won't see anything specific for sci-fi in this release but stay tuned for details!
Navigation Improvements
We are always on a mission to improve the intuitive nature of the app. So expect some improvements to the current navigation and overall experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add my projects?
Add your work-in-progress to your Bookshelf so you can view and access all your stories in one place. For your convenience, the last project you worked on will always appear first. There is currently no limit to how many projects you can display.
Where is my work stored?
Your projects are stored locally on your device using local storage. So this means your data stays on your phone or tablet and is not uploaded to any external servers. The great news is that this allows you to work without Wi-Fi.
However, because your data is stored locally, you’ll need sufficient device storage for the app to run smoothly. If the app feels slow, it may be due to low available storage.
You can back up your data at any time by tapping the little hamburger menu (☰) on the main page. This allows you to save your current version, in case you need to restore it later!
Can I access my story plans on multiple devices?
Because the app uses local storage, your story plans are only available on the device where they were created. We recommend using the device you're most comfortable with. The app is compatible with most phones and tablets.
Does the app work on desktop?
Currently, this is a mobile-only app and is not compatible with desktop devices. A desktop version is planned for a future release.
Can I save my story plan to my phone?
Yes! You can export your story plan as a formatted PDF. This makes it easy to print or save through third-party services. Images & emojis are not included in the PDF.
How do I get a physical copy of my story plan?
Once your story plan is complete, export it as a PDF from your project’s main page. It’s already formatted for A5 paper size. You can use platforms like Lulu Publishing or even Staples to print a single personal-use copy for an affordable cost. Just follow their process to upload your PDF, create a cover, and order your printed story plan.
Note: Images and emojis are not exported into the PDF.
Story Plan Cover TemplatesDo I have to fill in all the fields?
Nope! Only character names and project titles are required. All other prompts (including images) are optional, so you can customize each entry based on what’s most useful for your story.
What story outline format does the app use?
The app uses the classic Three-Act Structure, also known as the narrative arc. Each stage of the story includes an added prompt to help you dig deeper into that phase. We’re planning to include even more optional prompts in a future update.
How do I crop my images?
here is currently not an in-app cropping tool . You can crop the images into a square on your device through your photo library first before bringing them into the app. Square dimensions will work for character, fauna, and magic system images, and standard landscape images will work for settings.
